CIBA is a non-governmental fully independent association, financed by membership fees only. Its activities and initiatives are organised and carried out by its General Secretary and an Executive Committee of (max.) 12 persons. The members of the Executive Committee are volunteers and do not receive any compensation.

Ever since its creation, CIBA has gone to great lengths to represent and safeguard the interests of the international businesses, their international shareholders, managers and staff. The authorities recognise that CIBA represents the whole of the international business community in Cyprus and that it is instrumental in finding compromises between newly required EU-driven legislation and international business requirements.

With the latest Moneyval report pointing out the improvements that have been made as well as the additional steps that still need to be taken, we expect that Cyprus companies operating internationally will need to be constantly vigilant and be updated on all relevant legislation. We hope for increased effectiveness on the behalf of the banking sector so as to ensure that regulatory compliance does not impact ongoing business operations.
